We visited the north coast of Northern Ireland on a day trip recently. It’s a fabulous coast with so much to see along the way. We walked from the village of Castlerock to Downhill Demesne and Mussenden Temple. This photograph is taken within the ruins of Downhill looking towards the Temple by the waters edge high on a cliff. This is one of the locations for the Game of Thrones series.
What absolutely stunning architecture! What a huge cost it must have been to build. I reflected on how skilled the workers were to achieve all this without many of the modern day tools that make the building trade easier.
How quickly a building deteriorates when left abandoned, reduced to nothing but the shell. What history these walls could tell!
