We’ve been house-sitting near Buderim, in Oz, for three months. We’ve another month here before we move to another house-sit. The main reason for our accommodation here is to feed the wild birds – the meat eaters, not the seed eaters (which we’ll get to feed at the next place). So each morning and evening I pop outside with a punnet of beef mince and throw small balls of mince to the feathered locals. It is such a joy!! Some will feed out of my hand. Sometimes the kookaburras will ‘laugh’ – I can’t help but laugh with them. This little chap, or chapess, is extra friendly and sometimes flies in during the day and sits near us. No doubt he/she is hoping for some extra treats, despite a lack of success to date.
