In Varanasi, on the banks of the Ganges, we stayed in the old town. We took a walking tour of the river banks and the narrow, winding alleys. This lad ran along to check out the action while we were photographing some other children. We often felt a bit like pied pipers, with children and adults often drawn to us just to look but often to take selfies with us. He stopped in his tracks with a smile and I indicated the camera and he nodded. I think he’s just lovely, but he also looks rather concerned. He returned to happy mode once I put the camera down.
