First of all, I just want to send my thoughts to all those who have suffered in big and small ways during and after the earthquake. Look after yourselves, its a tough journey. To the people of Waiau and Kaikoura and environs: we cannot imagine the devastation you have experienced, you are always in our minds.

My image today is a new take on an old image. For me the ocean is always my refuge. When I made this image it was all about movement, dynamic, freedom. Today it is all about the energy of the quake combined with my recent bad eyesight, which is now largely recovered :-). As always I look for beauty in everything. I can’t help thinking that we had a huge kick up the bum on Sunday night. Life is for the living – let all the little stuff go and live – I’m still struggling with that, my beauty has a dark overtone right now. That will change.

Ann, HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I hope you have a most special day and I am sorry I cannot spend it with you.

  1. We missed your presence Bruce. Was a great weekend.
Hope the eye continues to improve.

  2. Love this photograph Bruce. So much implied movement, not always easy to capture in a ‘still’.
Missed you on the weekend, I think you would have enjoyed. Xx
