Pleasant surprise

When we decided to go to Cathedral Cove in the Coromandel you can imagine what kind of image I hoped to get looking through the arch. When nothing worked I started looking around for something something else. Played around for about half and hour without success. One of the problems was that the sun was behind the interesting rocks. But in desperation I spun the exposure compensation dial and got the surprise that the image looked a tiny bit like a Japanese painting.

  1. I’m so glad that you didn’t find something looking through the arch. This is a beautiful rendition of that place, and recognizable still. I agree it has a sense of oriental painting, the simplicity, vertical movement up and the connection between earth and heaven.

  2. This is clearly you own special view on the place and I really enjoy that an exposure adjustment has turned a brown ordinary rock into something as delicate as this.

And you were very “lucky” that that little cloud emphasised the tree.
