Capturing a moment in Venice

Venice is a fantastic place but, as a photographer, I found it a challenge. Because it is so photogenic and so popular, it is very difficult avoiding cliche images.
Fortunately I managed to make a few images that were a bit different. In this case there was a small bridge near our hotel that we crossed frequently without photographing anything. But one time I noticed this line of reflection – thank you I’ll have that!!!!!
I made three images and as I was finishing the second one I realised a gondola was gliding into the scene. Lesson – try and fine tune one’s awareness and get lucky. But in Venice it is not often that the gondola is just a subtle background rather than the main subject. (Note: I did try lightening the gondola but it then fought with the lines of reflection.)
