Roadside Salesman

On our Moroccan tour, when we stopped at the side of the road we were often approached by ‘roadside salesmen’. Only once were we interested enough to make a purchase – and are the proud owners of two hand-woven bookmarks, plaited from sturdy grasses into the shape of a camel, and this young man was the successful salesman. I don’t recall him speaking, or even smiling, but he was willing to stand for his portrait, despite his friends laughing and jeering, or perhaps cheering, from the hillside above.

  1. I love the directness of his expression. I think you got an image well worth the stop – the bookmarks are just a bi-product of the transaction
