Portrait of Penang

Last week I was in Penang. This is a Portrait hanging in a Mansion that is now a Museum. It used to belong to a powerful Chinese Clan, ancestors of a work college over there. I like the way the mirror that it is painted on reflects the room in which we stand, the now, shapely. The blend of the Oriental and European Styles. The white reflections are reminiscent of silicone chips that are so much part of modern Penang. The opulent multi layered nature of the image speaks to me of the many layers of history that have made Penang a unique place.
