I have just been away in Fiordland and spent a bit of time in this dune system at Martins Bay. The delicacy of the dunes and how they are shaped and held together became the theme. This image for me shows the beauty of how the wind sculptures the sand.

  1. Sand dunes and their patterns are among my favourite things to photograph. I could spend hours amongst them. You have made this one at what looks like a wonderful morning time – no foot prints and the sun just rising. I like the vertical and how you are drawn towards the tussocks in the background.

  2. Well. Graham, you have taken me to a special place with this. Love the textures and patterns of the sand but then the light makes it really special and we know you know your place. Special image.

  3. Beautiful. I love the depth of colour in the dunes middle distance, with a painterly/illustrative feel about the whole.

  4. How did I miss this? Beautiful image with subtle but stunning tones and textures – a different side of Martins Bay (jealous!).
