A couple of years ago Sandra from the “Kaiapoi Advocate” If I would like to go and take some images of the Tuhoe crossing the Waimakriri river bar. In due course we set of on the Kaiapoi Rescue 0ne boat to get ahead of the Tuhoe ready to get the images of it crossing the bar, Wow it was very exciting experience I wondered what I had let myself into but I did survive the experience and got a great series of 6 images from it. The waves were bigger than houses it seemed out there. This particular images has done well in overseas competitions too and a canvas was brought this weekend by the Waimakariri mayor for his office which is a great thrill.

  1. Great image Anne. Thanks for sharing.

  2. \Right place, right time….how often do we say this…..Well captured Anne.

  3. Great image Anne.

I particularly like the depth that the brush of snow on the hills brings. Crossing the bar sure isn’t for the faint hearted!

  4. What a fantastic opportunity, Anne – and a marvellous image … a great action shot!

  5. What impresses me most about the capture in this shot is the nonchalent ease with which the sailors are standing on board the boat, an almost arrogant stance of mankind in the face of the power of nature.
