It occurred to me the other day that for the past 5 or so years, a large proportion of my photographs have been made from a moving vehicle. Largely because I spend a large part of my time sitting in the passenger seat, travelling from place to place on a regular basis, and often long distances.

Somehow I should honour that, because however “successful”, or not, by anyone else’s standards, they may be, they are still valid. A recognition of my recognition, subconscious understanding, and action, at any point. Not only do they serve as a history of our travels, but they also serve as a window on my picturemaking at that time.

These were my thoughts as I made this picture.

  1. Interesting sky, well balanced image, lovely sweeping road, repeated parallel bright highlights to draw my eye and perfectly positioned cars…..

Id say your subconscious did pretty well

  2. At first I thought this is just a picture of a road. It feels like we are hurrying to get somewhere else. But of course that is exactly what it is about. The feeling of passing through a landscape on the way to somewhere else. Well done.
