I was in Paris for a few days but only got one chance to go out for the sunrise.

I knew the Sun would rise somewhere near the Eiffel Tower from the Trocadero Palace lookout so I decided to try my luck up there.

After a few uninteresting shots from what appeared to be a boring sunrise, I started playing around on the lower grounds and placed myself to have the Sun under the Eiffel Tower. It became clear pretty quickly that placing it inside would be more fun.

I rushed on the upper terrace and locked a good composition a couple of minutes before the Sun reached the center of the Eiffel Tower. I grabbed a couple of shots and pleased with myself, packed up and left.

I usually don’t like people in my shots but when I started processing these images, I noticed how it all suddenly fell into place in front of my eyes without even realising it. Everyone was at the right place, at the right time (including myself). I guess like someone said “luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity”.

  1. Welcome Sebastien and thank you for this refreshing view of the Eiffel Tower. The poor thing has been photographed to death over its lifetime.

  2. Great image Sebastien. I would also add the words persistence and determination.

  3. Welcome Sebastien, I love this image and it is the people in the early morning that make it for me. I love the early morning light and the peace of the world as people slowly emerge. This image conveys all that to me and it is a refreshingly different perspective on the Eiffel, something I was unable to deliver when I visited it! Thanks for sharing it with us.
