Winter is a lonely place. A time of frugality, a time to make what you have last the distance. Standing on the edge of this frozen lake looking at this frozen stone I was reminded of how much we take for granted, and how we may have forgotten how to be resilient because of the comfort and plenty within which we live. And then I went back to my warm home and full larder to reflect on my image …. Have strength Ian, the sun will shine again and we will all rejoice together.

  1. Beautiful

  2. Hard to imagine here in northern hem summer weather.

  3. I have visited this image many times since you posted it.

I have imagined the lake in summer with grass and reeds growing and with ducklings swimming. One is a more friendly scene but it is not necessarily the most beautiful.

So the message I get is that a time of hardship does not simply amplify how much better the good times are.
Instead we should focus on the beauty that is to be seen in the hard times.

    Im trying!!!!
