A lone tree, in the fog on a distant hill and then presented as a square crop…..

Does that sound familiar at all?

When I added the textures that I have been playing with recently this created an image that I am very pleased with.

I think that this is about being familiar with a particular style – the more you use a particular style the more comfortable you become with it. The key must be to keep it different and interesting.

Just a coincidence but as today is my birthday I thought that this image suited best as one that is clearly from ME.

  1. AND a great big happy birthday to you. Love the image – and yes it is YOU. I am playing with textures too. It is great how they can turn what I consider an ordinary image into a piece of art. That is NOT to say that any lone tree of yours is ordinary (big grin)

  2. You do these so well. Great way to celebrate your birthday. Congrats.

  3. Ian, Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day. Love this image. So simple and do evocative with the tones and hues and textures you have presented us with. I could live with this for a long time.

  4. When a bald sky becomes an asset…I love the effect.

  5. That’s lovely, Ian! Belated happy birthday too!
I have a very similar image that I captured from a train – I saw it on the way to Oxford and was ready for it on the way back. But much as I like my image and have the concept of what I want to do with it, it’s just not happening! I’ve set it aside for now, until my head’s in the right space for it, and I’ll just enjoy seeing you get it right!
