This image was taken during a walk around the Christchurch rebuild area. On a vacant building spot, a group have built a courtyard out of blue pallets with tables, a bar, coffee and a small stage for performers. It is accessible 24hrs a day to sit, read, meet or reflect. It is one of the gap filler projects around the area to make the barrenness less bare.

I love the roughness of the pallets against the softness of the sky. The lines formed by the pallets keep the eye wandering within the structure.

  1. Reminds me of a architectural designed apartments I like you angle & symmetry of this image.

  2. It is a very interesting structure and you have captured it well.

  3. Julia, I love the temporariness of this image and that it fills a space while things grow up around it again. Great design and love the toning too – gets the emotions working.

  4. Thanks for your comments
