“Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour.
Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT’S Relativity”   – Albert Einstein

For me black & white is the soul of photography, it is as if there is more honesty in B&W than in colour. In colour you are never sure the colour you are looking at is the colour the photographer captured. Black & White reveals the truth of subtle shade & tonal shifts. It has simplicity, elegance & beauty that defy description.

“What’s the best type of light? Why that would be available light…and by available light I mean any damn light that is available”  – W. Eugene Smith

  1. completely agree – and you can even capture “cute”

  2. Scott, love the places this image takes me. Children doing children’s things, girls leading/looking after boys, adult characteristics attributed to children. No emotional confusion caused by colour. Great seeing

  3. Scott, black and white is the soul for me too. I do not know if it is built in to some of us who like black and white or if it is practice. Whichever, I am lucky that I seem to see a scene from a black and white perspective.
Back to your image – the power of touch is so well captured here. It is a powerful indicator of a relationship.
    Thanks for the image.

  4. I have to agree with you John I also think that sometimes it can be built into our subconscious, is it the honesty, simplicity I don’t know but I know I find it easier to achieve than a colour image. ….
