Michelangelo’s fresco, The Creation of Adam, on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, is recognisable to most.   I’ve ‘borrowed’ the central piece of this magnificent work.

Nancy drove up from Dunedin to stay with us for the Christmas and New Year period.  I wanted to take the opportunity to include her in my art – this time, her hands.  And this image is one of the ideas that came to mind.

While in the original God is reaching out to impart the spark of life to Adam, in my version Nancy is reaching out to her son, Nigel.

  1. What a great shift from Michaelangelo. I love the connection you’ve made between a mother and her son, the eternal passing on of the spark of life.
