Siesta

Having an after lunch nap while at home seems way too decadent, but in the tropics it just makes sense.

These light curtains shielded the bulk of the bright sun . As the curtains moved gently in the breeze from the fan, the harsh shadows of the plants outside the window moved in and out of focus.

Perhaps you had to be there to feel it but this picture takes me right back.

This is an example of making an image for a totally selfish reason.

That it works for me is the point and if anyone else can sense the feeling then that is just a nice extra.

  1. I’m with you! A very different ‘holiday’ though. Your image reminds me of the red curtains in my room at the historic Island Hill Homestead on Stewart Island, where I was the hut warden a year ago. I too took photos, but nothing as ‘moving’ as this. Well done!

  2. Ooops – there goes that bug again. That was me reminiscing. 🙂

  3. Works for me too. The shade inside , bright sun and life outside.

  4. A little reminiscent of Maplethorpe…. I love the composition and light.
