The competition’s theme was “Portray yourself”….

… I read that as a license to have fun!
I’m not really a ‘soak’.  And while I’ll usually choose to drink a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, or even bubbles, both were going to supply less modesty than a red!  So red wine it is, sadly with a dash of water added (I should have purchased a light pinot noir instead of the heavy cabernet sauvignon).  A bit of GIMP ‘nip and tuck’, ‘magic wanding’ and layering and … voilà … “The Soak” … a dash of light entertainment!

  1. Kool nice work, did you think about having a glass in your hand.Scott

  2. Thanks Scott. I did think about the glass, but decided it would confuse the proportions. Besides, I already had a remote control in my hand! 🙂

  3. What did you get at CPS with this shot hope you got an honours, a cigar would have been funny:)

  4. Awesome! And thanks for your advice Vicki… most helpful 🙂

  5. What did the grape say when a photographer stood on him?

Nothing but he let out a little wine.

    My Christmas. cracker favorite 😉

    • And after a quick giggle I’m trying to work out if it would make a fun image…. I’ve decided it would need an explanatory title to make it work. 🙂

  6. I just think your creative imagination is superb, Vicki. And to have seen how you think such an image out and decide how you will do it and then the post production – just fantastic. Keep it up

  7. Very cool. Well executed.

  8. Thank you all!!
Scott – you’ll be amused to hear that this image received a ‘not accepted’ in a CPS open competition. It took a bit of bravery to include it as the final image in my [successful] LPSNZ set. 🙂 And yes, I think a cigar might have worked, but it’s 35 years since I last coughed on one of those – I would never have thought of it.

    • Well vicki – a lot of very great images (not just pictures) which had been processed to the edge -were not accepted at CPS last year – so this one is in great company. It is a highly successful use of the digital medium and I look forward to seeing more of your creations!
